Pearls are a new material added to the 1.3.0 update. Since they’re needed for to craft the new Mermaid set, you may be wondering how to get more.
Currently, there are two ways to get Pearls:
Dive for them. Pearls can be found rarely while you’re diving. It’ll appear as a shadow, just like any sea creature. Keep diving and you’ll eventually find one! Occasionally, Pascal will trade you a Pearl for a Scallop. He’ll also trade you Mermaid DIY recipes and clothes, though, so you won’t get a pearl from him every day, unfortunately.
At this time, there’s no reliable way to grind more Pearls without time travelling… unless you’re really, really lucky during your diving sessions!
Pearls are a material, and their main function at this time is to craft furniture from the Mermaid set. Every recipe in the set requires at least on Pearl, and sometimes even more. At this time, other sets don’t require Pearls for their DIY recipes… but given how rare they are, that’s probably for the best.
You can also sell the Pearls, but like Gold Nuggets, that’s not the best use for them.
